The fasting period during Ramadan will range from a minimum of 15 hours 2 minutes to a maximum of 15 hours 16 minutes, Qatar Calendar House has said.

A press statement from noted astronomer Dr Beshir Marzouk and Qatar Calendar House president Dr Mohamed al-Ansari also stated that Ramadan 1438 would start on May 27 and end on June 24, according to astronomical calculations.

The number of daily fasting hours will vary as the Fajr prayer time and sunset time will change every day, the statement notes.

The first day of Ramadan (May 27) will have the minimum fasting hours (15 hours 2 minutes), while the maximum (15 hours 16 minutes) will be on three days – Ramadan 25, 26 and 29, or June 20, 21 and 24, respectively.

On the other hand, Makkah in Saudi Arabia will have a shorter fasting period than Qatar; ranging from 14 hours 45 minutes to 14 hours 55 minutes, Qatar Calendar House adds. (Gulftimes)
